Frequently Asked Questions
Pixels are sorted into buckets of similar colour, and the buckets holding the most pixels win. So the palette reflects what dominates the picture, not the most vivid colours in it.
The image probably has large neutral areas. Turn on the option to skip near-black and near-white to surface the colours underneath.
Not with this tool — it summarises the whole image. Crop to the region you care about first, then extract.
The values are sRGB, which is right for screens. Print work needs a colour-managed CMYK conversion.
Privacy and security
Your file is read directly from your device and processed in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, so there is no copy for us to keep, share or lose. Closing the tab discards everything. If you want to check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the tool — you will see no request carrying your file or input leave the page.
