Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
This policy explains what FreeTool.co.in collects, what it does not, and why. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past, because the short version is genuinely short.
The short version: your files are processed inside your browser and are never sent to us. The only exceptions are the URL Shortener and dynamic QR Code Generator, which by nature must send the destination link to our server, and a star rating and comment you deliberately submit.
Files you process
Every PDF, image and text tool on this site runs as JavaScript inside your browser. When you choose a file, it is read from your device into your browser’s memory, transformed there, and offered back to you as a download.
At no point is that file transmitted to our servers or to any third party. We therefore hold no copy of it, cannot recover it for you, and cannot disclose it to anyone — including if we were asked to.
The file is discarded from memory when you close or reload the tab. Downloads you save are entirely under your control.
The one exception: URL Shortener and QR codes
Shortening a URL or creating a dynamic (expiring) QR code only works if a server can look up the destination when someone opens the short link later, so the destination URL you enter is sent to our server and stored until it expires. This is the only tool on the site that works this way, and it only ever handles a URL you type or paste — never a file.
Static QR codes (no expiry) are generated entirely in your browser like everything else, with nothing sent anywhere.
Analytics
We ask, via a cookie banner, whether we can run Microsoft Clarity to see anonymized clicks and scrolling so we know which tools need work. It only loads if you accept, and it never has access to file contents, because files never leave your browser regardless of your answer.
Details of what Clarity stores and how to withdraw consent are in our Cookie Policy.
Tool feedback
If you choose to rate a tool after using it, we store three things:
- the star rating you selected, from 1 to 5
- the optional written comment, if you left one
- which tool the rating was about
We also store a one-way hash of your IP address. This is not reversible into an address and exists solely to stop the same source flooding the ratings. The raw address is never written to our database.
Feedback is entirely optional. Skipping it does not limit any tool in any way.
What we do not collect
There are no user accounts, so there is no profile, no email list and no record of what you converted. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.
We do not use tracking pixels or third-party advertising cookies.
Local storage in your browser
We store a few small preferences on your device: whether you chose the light or dark theme, whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, and a list of tools you opened recently so we can shortcut back to them for you.
All of it stays in your browser’s local storage, is readable only by this site, is never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider records standard request logs — the page requested, a timestamp, and technical details such as browser type. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate faults, and they contain no information about the contents of any file, because the file never reaches the server.
Your rights
Because we hold almost nothing about you, most data-subject requests have a very short answer. If you left feedback and want it removed, write to us describing the comment and we will delete it.
If you are in the EU, UK or a jurisdiction with comparable law, your rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection apply to that feedback record.
Children
FreeTool is a general-purpose utility site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them, and there is no account system through which such information could be provided.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes to how data is handled will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
